Senior Research Executive to Head Ockham’s European Strategy
New position and geographical expansion will extend clinical trials service offering

(Cary, NC) Ockham Development Group Inc.(www.ockham.com), a global Contract Research (CRO) and Functional Service Provider (FSP) organization, announced today the promotion of industry veteran Anthony J. Southers to the role of General Manager, Europe. From this new position, Mr. Southers will lead the continued expansion of Ockham’s European operations.
With increased demand for Ockham’s European services, Mr. Southers – a senior executive with over 25 years of experience within global pharmaceutical and clinical research organizations – is now leading all of Ockham’s European Clinical and FSP operations, and will maintain full P&L responsibility.
“Through its client relationships, Ockham has developed a strong concentration of Oncology experience and also has been successful in developing networks with investigators throughout Eastern and Western Europe and India,” said Ockham CEO Jim Baker. “This experience, alongside Tony’s senior-executive knowledge will help accelerate our expansion into Europe.” Baker added that this combination will enhance Ockham’s ability to “compete for larger global clinical studies”.
“Because the demand for global studies continues to increase from U.S. companies, and with EU companies wanting to penetrate the U.S. market,” Baker explained, “we have been expanding our international workforce to deliver global CRO and FSP services and have continued our push to provide services in Eastern Europe and India.”
Mr. Southers – based in Ockham’s U.K. office in Chichester – has extensive experience working within Europe, the U.S. and Asia. “I am excited about this opportunity to lead our expansion as we develop the European Clinical and FSP operational capabilities to the significant benefit of our clients,” Southers said.
