About Our Name; Ockham Development Group

The 14th century produced a host of intellects and philosophers who paved the way for Western civilization’s march toward the Enlightenment. Along with Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus, William of Ockham is considered one of the most influential thinkers of medieval Europe.

A Franciscan friar, theologian and philosopher, William of Ockham was a controversial figure in his day. While his writings on politics and religion were extensive and diverse, his most prominent work has come to be referred to as “Ockham’s Razor”. In academia the idea is presented as Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate. Literally translated, “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily”.

Today we take Ockham’s lead and simplify to a more generalized position: “All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best.”

Ockham Development Group has adopted this principle in the important work it performs on behalf of clients.
